IF YOU SEE BUDDHA ON THE PATH, KILL HIM

The Buddhists have a saying, “If you meet Buddha on the path, kill him. If you are walking on the path and meet some human guy, he says, “I AM BUDDHA.” just keep moving.   If he has to say it, he ain’t it!   That simple.

This is about Spiritual Discernment and tailor-making your own spiritual path. You know what discernment is. It’s like this lady, Susan. When Susan’s boyfriend proposed marriage to her, she said, ‘I love the simple things in life, but I do not want one of them for my husband.'”

This saying about if you meet Buddha on the path also means to me that you can take the truths from a path; don’t make it rigidly about the path. It is about the Truth that works for you right now, where you are, when you need it.

It is like the pious monk who followed every rigid edict from his spiritual discipline and was so self-exalted when he met St. Peter. St Peter gently told him you may have misunderstood some things.   For instance, please look at this word from the sacred texts you revered.   So the monk looks at the word and gasps.    What,  what?   And with tears running down his face, he sadly reads the word out loud.   CELEBRATE?

Where ever we find ourselves, in good moments or challenging moments, Truth will be revealed appropriate for that very situation. All paths come from God, and each has a truth to offer. I certainly am not going to sit in condemnation for any spiritual practice that uplifts.   We, however, are evolving, and a path that fits your needs today may not fit your needs tomorrow.   We take an eternal truth that we absorb and move on to face the next stage of our evolution. We don’t have to struggle to grow. It is a natural organic process.   My grandson did not struggle to become three when he was two.   It happened.

We evolve, and Spirit will unfold and reveal your truths as you are ready. The spiritual path is not a self-improvement project. It becomes an actual self-awareness project.   So don’t be so caught up in the Truth that you forget the Spirit of the Truth.    Trust. When you are ready the teacher, the Truth, will appear.    Rev.
