Jewish mystical theology holds that soon after God created the world, it experienced a cosmic “shattering” that sent sparks of goodness and godliness flying all over the earth. This mystical teaching encourages us to gather those sparks back together, re-forming them into a unified whole and, ultimately, bringing about the coming of the messiah.
In new thought our mission is less broad, but equally as important. It is to gather the sparks of goodness and godliness that have scattered away from the only thing which we have the right to control – ourselves! And then we can bring about the coming of the Christed consciousness within our core.
